Curiosity + Kindness
When the shit hits the fan…
We’re all navigating new waters here- juggling work or unemployment, kids, homeschool (or not), trying to take care of ourselves and not be consumed by fear of the unknown. I don’t know about you, but everything that I struggled with before COVID, now feels amplified. I cannot avoid seeing my own struggle to try to achieve some kind of balance, to hustle and always make progress, dream big, make a positive “impact” in the world, to be a present, loving, creative mom and wife, and look graceful and at ease in the process.
While the loss, fear, and grief we are all feeling is so real, I also see what many others are realizing in this strange time - the gift of slowing down, simplifying, and letting go of trying to do it all, because we simply cannot.
The theme that came to me through conversations with others these last two weeks has been Curiosity and Kindness. My mom and I talked about it on our Facebook Live, and I’ve found that the simplicity of these two concepts keep me in check when my stress wants to gush out onto others.
Am I being curious?
Am I being kind?
If not, redirect. Choose kindness. Choose curiosity.
There is more I could write about this, but honestly, this week wiped me out and I’m done. But I do want to share a fun gift with you. I asked Cynthia of Dash Blossoms to create a coloring sheet for adults and children alike. I’ve been enjoying coloring it with my girls and by myself. Coloring is a simple mindfulness practice and is great for stress relief. We hope you enjoy it!
